Children need an atmosphere that allows them to be themselves and grow but the goal is to teach them to "love" education. The younger a child begins to be exposed to math, reading, science, and more, the more the will appreciate school.
Working with children for the last 30 years, I am always amazed by the intelligence, endurance, and strength each child has. Some in situations that should have affected them negatively emotionally, as well as, behaviorally didn't because their personal strength made them push thru. Then there are children with special needs whose lives have been challenged from birth; they have the same determination, desires, and wants as any other child but work harder to achieve.
Murray's Little People prides it's self on being that learning atmosphere that any type of child can achieve in. We want each child to find their way and if they need help, we find the resources they need for success. Parents of children in our child care understand that we need their support and involvement to help their children to succeed.
Our curriculum is designed to reach each child by not limiting how learning is done. How do we do this? Take a "good" curriculum, then expand it and use differentiation to various levels for beginning learners. We use sign language, picture exchange communication system (PECS), and lots of hand on experiences to make learning successful.
The teacher Mrs. Murray is college educated and a certified teacher in special education; she continues to earn certifications in all areas to improve teaching skills. She had a child care for 14 years serving the families in her area but closed for a 1 year and 6 months to experience what public school education is about. This experience offered her new skills plus a better understanding of what children need to have for success in regular public school or in a learning center for children with special needs. Her belief is all children deserve an education, she knows early childhood educating is vital to helping all children with success in school. The key to making education successful is parents and teachers working together; Murray's Little People ask their parents to participate and be involved so success is there for each child.
